Our Catholic Life

We are proud to belong to the Diocese of Southwark and St Francis Parish, Maidstone, where we celebrate Whole School Masses and Liturgies with the children, both in Church and in school.

The St Francis RE team hold a daily rosary in the school chapel and during the months of October and May, they lead a whole school online rosary session at the beginning and end of the month. We also join together with other schools across the Diocese of Southwark as Archbishop John Wilson helps us pray the rosary.

We have regular class visits from our Parish priest, Fr Stephen and Canon John to celebrate prayer and liturgy and support the teaching of Religious Education.

Our Mini Vinnie team engage in a variety of charitable events throughout the academic year where they truly demonstrate faith in action, beginning with a Harvest appeal and assembly to embed the Catholic Social Teaching principle, Option for the Poor.

During the month of May, our Year 3 children lead the whole school in a beautiful Marian Mass to celebrate Our Lady in the special month of May. They make and pick flowers to crown our statue of Our Holy Mother.

Our Year 5 classes work incredibly hard during Lent to rehearse and perform an incredibly moving recreation of the Stations of the Cross. Their performance is a powerful reminder of the true meaning of Easter and the love that our Father has for us all.

The 20th March 2025 was a very special day at St Francis. As part of the Jubilee Year of Hope, we received the Diocesan Jubilee Candle from St Simon Stock school, we then welcomed Mrs Whittle and Mrs Burford from KCSP to St Francis to join us in a special Jubilee service.

The Jubilee Year of 2025, as announced by Pope Francis, is a landmark moment in the life of the global church. At St Francis Catholic Primary School we are answering the call to be 'Pilgrims of Hope' and are finding ways to join together within our local and global family to work together for God’s kingdom of justice, peace and love.

Catholic Ethos

St Francis Catholic Primary School is committed to providing the best possible education for all its pupils.  Our Mission Statement ‘A Community Growing in Love for Learning and Life’ demonstrates our subscription to these values.

We believe that the true purpose of our work is to create, in all our community, an ethos in which everyone is inspired by the example of Christ. The children in our care are encouraged to fully engage in their relationship with God, helping them grow as individuals who fully understand their vocation in life. One cannot reach one’s full human potential without exploring the issues of faith that lie at the heart of one’s being.

The Catholic ethos of the school permeates all aspects of school life and is underpinned by our Liturgical Calendar, including prayer, Liturgies and charitable work.  All staff are involved in the pastoral care and well-being of each student, helping students to form friendships and develop a firm support network of peers.
