Year 6 SAT’s meeting for Parents on Wednesday

KS2 SATs Information Reminder

 Dear Parents/Carers,

As you are aware all Year 6 pupils will be taking their Key Stage 2 SATs assessments in  May this year. These are external assessments and measure pupils’ progress in Reading and Maths.  Writing levels, this year, will be assessed internally based on writing produced throughout the year. These assessments will then be externally moderated by English subject leaders and County advisers to ensure that the outcomes reported by the school are an accurate reflection of what  the children have achieved.

The results of these assessments are very important for Year 6 pupils as they are a measure of progress from Year 2 to Year 6. They are also used by secondary schools as an indicator of a pupil’s ability, of what she/he should achieve at GCSE level and, again, of the progress made between Year 6 and Year 11.  This letter is to remind you that we have our SATs Information Session for Parents on Wednesday at 3.30pm.

We will be providing a range of information including:  – When and how long each paper is.  – What each paper involves.  – Tips on how you can support your child in the lead up to, and during, the assessments.  – Examples of assessment papers and tips on how you can help your child revise.  We are sure you understand how important it is for us to work together to support our Year 6 pupils to help them to achieve their best in these assessments, and beyond.  Please join us on Wednesday at 3.30pm in the school hall – children are welcome to attend.

Year 6 Team.
